3. FAQ (Frequently asked Questions)
3.1 Performance and trouble shooting
3.1.1 The application crashes / responds slowly / crackling occours.
Answer: Rebooting your device properly will most likely resolve the issue. Press and hold the Home and the Sleep/Wake button for approximately 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears. Do not slide to power off, hold the buttons longer!
3.1.2 The audio output sounds noisy.
Answer: Use earphones or external speakers because the iPhone's internal speaker cannot cope with broad frequency spectrum of the various instruments. Decreasing the master gain in the volume section of the effects tab can also circumvent clipping.
3.1.3 Why is there a crackling noise once every few minutes?
|
Answer: Because the iPhone's mobile phone background processes sometimes require more CPU time than usual. If this happens while the application is already busy (playback or recording), audible stuttering will occur. To resolve this issue, activate the iPhone's airplane mode or increase the latency in the setup tab. |
3.1.4 My iPhone 3GS does not accept more than 2 fingers at once on the keyboard.
Answer: In the iPhone's Settings app, go to General, Accessibility and deactivate Zoom.
3.1.5 Why is my song not exported entirely?
Answer: Because the song markers are not set to the song start and end. Read this on how to move the song markers.
3.2 Instruments tab FAQ
3.2.1 Why is the default instrument volume 80% and not 100%?
Answer: This way you don't have to change all the other track's volumes if you want one track to be louder.
3.2.2 Why doesn't the preview button play a nice melody?
Answer: Because it would be distracting for a musician who has a melody in the head while composing music.
3.3 Tracks tab FAQ
3.3.1 Why do the note lines jump up and down while I move the selection around in the sequencer?
Answer: This known graphics issue occurs only on devices earlier than the iPhone 3GS.
3.3.2 If I select and edit bars in the sequencer, why are some notes ignored?
Answer: Selected notes are colored dark blue. If you select a bar but a note starts a few ticks earlier than this bar, it will not be selected. If possible, quantize the track to simplify further editing.
3.4 Projects tab FAQ
3.4.1 The server does not work.
Answer: Make shure that your device is connected to a WiFi network. Restarting the application will most likely resolve this issue. If your Mac or PC's browser does not load the Xewton Music Studio page, enter the IP address (numbers) instead of the Bonjour address (device name) in the browser's address bar.
