Exporting MIDI

Postby Christina » Sun Feb 26, 2017 2:39 pm

Hi,
I've recorded an audio file but when I try to export it as a MIDI file, I only get the option to export as an .m4a file.
On the export files screen I can't change any options so it's only export as m4a or cancel.
What am I doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong, you can't export an Audio Recording as a MIDI file.

If the audio you have recorded is sufficiently simple there are some apps out there which will make a stab at converting Audio to midi like

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/midimor ... &at=10lvkM

But in my experience they aren't very good.

Thank you. At least it's not me!

It's for a university assignment so I bought this app thinking it would convert to midi.
We have to record live audio, then convert that to midi and hand in both files for our assignment.

Never mind, I'll keep searching apps. Thank you for your help.

I have a better idea,

Record some midi

Export the midi and export the audio file , job done.....

Or is the point to prove how hard it is to get an accurate transcription.
