How to select odd selection

I found a nice little loop something I recorded. I'm trying to pull it out but it's not in the specific bars time frame. How to I copy paste and ignore the parameters of the measure?

I can think of 2 ways:

1. In the bar editor, make a selection that is larger than the area you want. Tap the Move button, then tap the snap button to disable the grid, then move the selection so that it starts exactly at the beginning of a bar.

2. If it's a MIDI track, use the piano-roll editor. It ignores bars when selecting notes, but you can edit only 1 track at a time.

Btw I recommend that you save your project under a new name before you start editing something out
