Would you make an Android version of this great app in the future? Are there still latency problems in Android 4.0: Ice Cream Sandwich?

The latency is still unbearable, but as I said "the day will come, but the year will be 2012 or 2013".
Btw if you put "Android" in the topic title it would be easier to find.

We are, and that means that Music Studio is also in the making. But it's still faaaaar away since the Android platform makes everything so complicated when it comes to low-latency and performance critical programming.

The hardware isn't the bottleneck, even the oldest devices would be fast enough for low latency audio. It's the Android OS that doesn't provide direct low-latency access to the audio output buffers. So the solution must come from Google in the form of an Android OS update - hopefully soon, but they kept us audio developers waiting for about 3 years now.

By the way, it's a similar situation with low latency on WP7.

So, we are about to end 2012 and Android is now supposed to have better support regarding low latency audio. I think from version 4.1 and on. Any news on developing for android? I love the app, really works for me, it would be the only reason for me to go back to apple, and I really don't want to do that. Thank you for your time :)

Unfortunately, "better" means that the Google Nexus 4 (afaik the device with the lowest latency) still has close to 100ms total latency (compared to 40ms on iOS). Sonoma has revealed an Android LLA (Low Latency Audio) solution, but it's for device manufacturers only so we'll have to wait and see if future device will implement it.

Apart from that, according to other developers who published on Android there are ridiculously high piracy rates and developing for Android takes far more time than for iOS because Apple's APIs are better and supporting and testing on the myriads of Android devices is very time consuming.

Nevertheless, we still consider creating an Android version in the future and we'll monitor the situation of the latency and the market.
