How to send us crash reports

Postby Alex » Sun Oct 09, 2011 5:14 pm

If you encounter an app crash, please send us the crash report so we can analyze and fix it in the next update.

iOS
Here's a good how-to with images, see the chapter "Obtaining Crash Logs":
http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-4341

Sync your device with iTunes, then the .crash files will be copied to your harddisk to a location depending on your OS:

Mac OS X: ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>
  • Go to the Finder
  • From the "Go" menu choose "Go to folder..."
  • Enter ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice and click the "Go" button
  • A Finder window will open, open the sub-folder whose name matches your iOS device
  • Send us all files that start with MusicStudio. Some may be in the sub folder DiagnosticLogs.

Win Vista, 7, 8: C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\<DEVICE_NAME>
  • Press the "Windows" key and the "e" key at the same time to open a new "Windows Explorer" window
  • In the "Address" area at the top of the window paste in %HOMEPATH%\AppData\Roaming\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice and hit the "Enter" key on your keyboard.
  • Open the sub-folder whose name matches your iOS device

Win XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter\<DEVICE_NAME>
  • Press the "Windows" key and the "e" key at the same time to open a new "Windows Explorer" window
  • In the "Address" area at the top of the window paste in %HOMEPATH%\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter and hit the "Enter" key on your keyboard.
  • Open the sub-folder whose name matches your iOS device

Android
Use Airdroid or OI File Manager or some other file browser to locate the file crash-report.txt on your device:
  • Music Studio:
    /sdcard/Android/data/com.xewton.musicstudio3/files/crash-report.txt
  • Music Studio Lite:
    /sdcard/Android/data/com.xewton.musicstudiolite/files/crash-report.txt
Note: If your apps are not stored on the SD card, the path doesn't start with sdcard.
Upload this file to the forum or send it to support@xewton.com.

Here's how to send crash reports directly from the device:
- Open the Settings app
- Navigate to Privacy -> Diagnostics & Usage -> Diagnostic & Usage Data
- Select a crash and you will see a text field with a crash log
- Long tap to Select All the text and then Copy the crash text
- Paste it into an email

Also please enable "Automatically Send" in the Diagnostics & Usage settings so that we can see the crash reports in Apple's developer portal website. The reports are completely anonymous and only contain the last known state of the crashed app.

Is there any way of telling if an app crash is because of the phone?

I upgraded to an iphone 6 plus 128 GB and Xewton just crashes non-stop.

I tried restoring it from a back-up. Now, I just deleted the app all together so I can re-install.

I'm not sure what the deal is. But it also randomly opens and starts playing music in iTunes while I'm trying to write in Xewton.

Very very frustrating..

If you send us the crash logs to support@xewton.com or if you post them in the forum (in a new thread, not here please), we can probably analyze the cause and let you know.
