Play Music Studio With Other Music In Background?

I am trying out Music Studio Lite, and trying to decide whether to upgrade to the full program.

I understand from reading this forum, that Music Studio will not currently run in the background, although that capability is being worked on. (I hope implemented soon.)

But what about the opposite? I have IRealB, a good auto-accompaniment program. It will run in the background. For instance, I can set up a chord progression in it, start it playing, switch to Thumbjam, still hear IRealB playing, and jam along, improvise a melody in TJ, with IRealB still playing.

However, if I try that with Music Studio Lite, , as soon as I open MSL, IRB stops playing. Something in MSL (at least with default settings) apparently shuts off all other sound from my Ipod Touch 4G.

Is there some setting that can be made to allow music from a background app to still be heard, when MSL is playing? If not in MSL, is there a way to do that in the full version of Music Studio?

(By the way, I think you have crippled the Lite version too much, so that one cannot really get a sense of what the full version is like. OK to have it time limited, to have a smaller amount of sounds (but make sure to include some high quality ones, so the user can get a sense of the sound quality), to not be able to save. But why no hardware support, no CoreMidi support, etc.? I have the Akai Synthstation 25, and would like to have got an idea of how well that works with MS. Now, in deciding whether to buy the full product I just have to take your word for it that it works. I would have liked to try that myself. I couldn't even get the SS25 to work with MSL via MidiBridge, as I can with Garage Band. You shouldn't cripple a demo version to the extent that the user cannot really get a sense of how well the full version works, including hardware support.)

Well, back to the main topic here. Is there some way to allow other audio to play in the background while MS is in the foreground? If yes, how? Could I try that in MSL?

Thank you.

On the contrary, the iOS version of Music Studio (and Music Studio Lite) already has a background audio switch, located in the Setup screen under General:

as soon as I open MSL, IRB stops playing. Something in MSL (at least with default settings) apparently shuts off all other sound from my Ipod Touch 4G.

Try that with the "Background audio" option enabled.
If it still doesn't work, try enabling the "Bluetooth / Airplay" option next to it. It switches the audio engine to a playback-only mode that shouldn't block other apps' audio output.
