The long awaited Android release of Music Studio 2 just arrived at the Google Play Store! To celebrate the release, it's 33% off for one week ($9.99 instead of $14.99).

As on iOS, there is also a free Lite version for your consideration. Please note that the Android version has a slightly reduced feature set compared to the iOS version (see the comparison table at, which brings us to our next announcement.

Music Studio 3 is on the horizon! We are working hard on the next major version, which will bring you some exciting new features. Music Studio 3 will come as a free free upgrade on both iOS and Android. With the release of Music Studio 3 the feature set on Android will be consolidated with the iOS Version.

Known issues

  • Black bars are visible at the left and right screen borders on some Android devices. This will be resolved in version 3.0.
  • Many Android devices have a long audio latency or touch input latency. While 20ms are acceptable for live keyboard playing, most Android devices exhibit 70-200ms latency. Some newer Android devices have lower latency, as Google is working toghether with device manufacturers to improve the latency situation. There are 2 workarounds for keyboard latency:
    * Record at a lower tempo: Open the tempo window and set it to 40-80 bpm for recording. Here latency won't be as problematic relative to the Playlist grid timing.
    * Use the piano-roll editor to input notes instead of playing on the keyboard.
Google Android Audio Latency to learn more.
We'll try to minimize the latency as much as possible in the free update to Music Studio 3.
